Climate change is the new kid on the block as far as fear based environmental scares go, but has recently been going down in credibility big time. We at Squeeze Squander and Spin think this is only temporarily. People get more and more sceptical and aware of how they are separated from their hard earned money by their rulers. This requires higher investments in media and academia (also known as acamedia) to make people doubt their common sense enough to ram extra taxes down their throats. This was of course known to us and we recommended a pretty high investment, but still a positive yield for the rulers. Resistance proved stronger than we anticipated and the plans have to be put on hold until some extreme weather condition occurs that allows it to be reactivated.

Only surface, land based temperature measurements indicate a temperature rise (mainly since after the collapse of the USSR, the Siberia measurement stations got closed, taking the median temperature up) and space based temperature measurement (which besides the 20% land also includes the 80% oceans) shows a slight decrease of temperature. The top 2.5 meter of the oceans (which contains an equal amount of energy as the complete atmosphere) also show a drop in temperature.

The climate change scheme might be revived as a global cooling fear scheme, but investments in it are too high to drop the whole thing as a loss and government finances are to stressed after decades of expansion, to do without the extra revenues.
